The last really amazing cd i bought was about a year ago. it was "The Art of Balance" by Shadows Fall. and in that time i've bought about thirty cds and NONE of them come even CLOSE to Glorious Burden. I bought this album 5 days ago and it hasn't left my cd player once. Songs like "When The Eagle Cries", "Green Face", "Atilla" and "Valley Forge" are nothing short of breathtaking. I remembered reading interviews in mags on Schaffer and hearing that it was going to be entirely based on the Civil War...and i gotta say that kinda turned me off, and surely i was proven wrong. not only is this just mad awesome, it's informative. another thing that made me think twice was when i found out Ripper Owens was taking over for Barlows absence, i kinda doubted it. don't get me wrong, Ripper is amazing, i have all his Priest stuff and he's got a killer voice but i didn't think it would work either...again proven WRONG. Ripper fits PERFECTLY, he fits arguably better than Barlow did. So not only does this album have a cd full of awesome material, it has 2! the double disk is AMAZING. Long story short, buy this album, i'm extremely hard to please and it's without a doubt the best thing i've bought in over a year. even if you aren't particularly into metal or the civil war, this is a winner so GET IT.
