I remember back when Iron Maiden's cover art blew my mind ... this band (along with Blind Guardian) have taken that honor now. Onto the music! If you're not familiar with any of Iced Earth's music and someone told you to check out this CD for whatever reason, trust them and listen to it; you'll hear power metal perfection, razor sharp. The guitar riffs (as on all Iced releases) are amazingly fast and crystal clear, making you wonder how they achive it all live, and the vocals are very unique: no growling, death metal puking here, Matt Barlow knows how to tone his voice to a perfect pitch that will have you playing this whole CD over and over. I can't name any favorite picks on this, they all jam and are all heavy and melodic. The take off on the Spawn storyline (Todd Mcfarlane) also makes for a killer concept album, so you have that in there too, if you like concept albums and actually following the story along with each song. On this album, Iced Earth could do know wrong. It's one of my favorite's from these guys. Don't miss out on this one! ... Cheers from Scraggy's Tomb!
