This is one of the most overlooked metal albums I've ever heard! I can't believe something of this quality can stay underground. Iced Earth are the leaders in today's American metal scene. All the big names like Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, even Metllica, can't compare their latest releases to Iced Earth's. I think they have one of the most talented song-writers in Metal today, Joh Schaffer. He is also one of the best rhythm guitarists I've heard. They also have one of the most impressive vocalists I've heard, Matthew Barlow, whose voice is just perfect for a metal band like Iced Earth. I think "Something Wicked This Way Comes" showcases all the talents of Iced Earth better than any other of their albums, who are all great by the way, except for maybe the debut which I heard isn't that good. On this album Iced Earth shows that they are not only the masters of fast and heavy music, but they can also write very beautiful and emotinal ballads, and best of all, they can mix the two styles in one song perfectly. This album goes from fast, heavy and and powerful to more mellow and quiet, and then gets back to the agressivness, which is something I enjoy a lot, and Iced Earth do a great job at it. All the tracks on this CD are flawless, and they are performed with passion and energy, and that's why I think this CD deserves 5 stars. I also like the lyrics, I find them very meaningful, they are sometimes about personal issues and sometimes about epic stories, and they fit the music very well. If you have any interest in metal, bands like Metallica or Iron Maiden, then do yourself a favor and buy this album and discover the great band which is Iced Earth.
