I've really got to hand it to Jon Schaffer & co. for putting out some of the highest quality Thrash metal after the 80's through thick and thin. This album may be a little overrated by their fans but it's artistic importance cannot be overlooked. SWTWC is an album that I think best displays Iced Earth's creativity and versatility. Matt Barlow sounds great on every track and Jon plays some very memorable riffs, especially those on "Stand alone", "Melancholy (Holy martyr)", "My own savior", "1776", and of course the masterpiece, "The coming curse". The only song I really don't care for on this album is "Disciples of the lie". It just doesn't grab me as much as the other songs on the album. One aspect that I do like about this album is that there is a perfect mix of fast paced Thrash songs and mellow, slower paced ballads. This album also contains strong lyrics, especially those on "Burning times" and "Stand alone". Well I really have nothing left to say so I'm going to leave you with this information and hope that newcomers give this great band a chance and enjoy their music.
