This is the first Iced Earth album I ever listened to, and if I'm not incorrect it's their second album, chronologically. I also own BURNT OFFERINGS which is also a wicked album.

I'm not heavily into heavy metal -most heavy metal seems kind of discordant and to a certain degree, untalented- but Iced Earth is very talented and simply, "bad!" Everything about this album rocks: the numerous guitar leads, the diverse melodies and choruses in every song, as well as bass guitar enhancements and drums. One or two songs at the very most seem to be "fillers," which is why I don't quite give it a 5 star rating, but it's still a great album; near perfect.

Jon Schaffer added lots of extras into Night Of The Stormrider, such as eldritch atmospheric synthesizer tones and symphonic instrumentation to enhance the songs even more.
