This is Iced Earth's heaviest album, so if you like the debut or NOFTS you will love this. Its heavier, but also more melodic and symphonic. The voice over and keyboards at the beginning of the title song really get you into a dark, evil atmosphere, and it doesnt let up until after the final song - the 16 minute masterpiece, Dante's Inferno.

The first three songs make a magnificent opening and along with the final song are the standouts of the album.

All metal fans must buy this album. It has power and melodic elements that Metallica and Maiden fans will love, but those who enjoy heavier, more extreme stuff like Slayer and Strapping will probably find something here. Even fans of goth bands such as Opeth might enjoy this, there is a great dark, mystic feel to the entire disc.

And after you get this, you WILL HAVE to get all of Iced Earths stuff, I guarantee it.
