Ok, at first listen, I said to myself, "This is a really dark and depressing album." Then I heard WHY it was so dark and depressing. This was written after they'd had some major issues with thier record label or something, and they were obviously ANGRY. I can listen to this album the whole way through easy now. There isn't one song I hate. There are ones I could do without, but don't mind. The title track, December, Diary, Brainwashed, and the epic Dante's Inferno, a 16 and a half minute musical trek through Hell (my personal favorite from this album.) Fantastic metal album as always from Iced Earth. Matt Barlow's first album with the band displays his prowess and anger and persona perfectly with his wide range of vocal talent. Great, great music as always from Jon Schaffer the rhythm guitarist. For anyone who is pissed off at the world or just enjoys great thrash metal or just metal in general, this is an alhum for you.
