First I'm going to start off by saying I own the Dark Gensis version of this album, although I've heard both. This is possibly my favorite Iced Earth Album, next to Dark Saga. However it's certainly not the place to begin if you're new to Iced Earth. This represents a time when Jon wasn dealing with some serious Sh*t from the Record Company, and the band was on hard times. This also marks an end from the longer complex songs, to the much more meoldic and simpler songs of Dark Saga and such.

Burnt Offerings - Begins with an Excrocist like openning, and then explodes into some harsh screams. The guitar work is heavy and Barlow's vocal are kinda rough, but in a good way.

Last December - A song about Romeo and Juliet, that is depressing, but still fast.

Diary - Oooooo I love this song. The into kciks up slowly, and then the eerie keyboard effects, the slow drumbeat, the haunting shrill scream, and then the fierce cries of Barlow. The song itself is about a vampire (presumeably Dracula) and I like it a lot better than the version on Horror Show.

Brainwashed - Another excellent track about the Churches abuses of it's power to condemn, and the crusades. It's got one of my favorite lines of any song "Christ it's nothing personal... You gotta see... They twist and turn your words... For their own needs!"

Burning Oasis - The songs got some complex work, and is pretty good, about Eden.

Creator Failure - The only song I don't like too much. The heavy intro is nice, but it falls apart about halfway through.

Pierced Spirit - A nice little accoustic piece, that songs something like Before the Vision, or Reaching the End. It's sort of a prelude to the next song...

Dantes Inferno - Get ready for a field trip boys & girls, straight through the 9 Circles of Hell. All 16 minutes are superb, and manages to stay interesting the whole way through.

Yep, if your looking for some music with some awesome riffs, and malcious tendencies, you've found it.
