I'm one of those Helloween fans who prefers Andi Deris over Michael Kiske, and The Dark Ride is why. Since Master of the Rings, Helloween has churned out some of the greatest metal albums of the 90s, thanks in large part to some of rock's greatest musicians backing one killer vocalist. While The Dark Ride has a moment or two of repitition (Mr. Torture could be Dr. Stein II), the album is quite a ride from its dreary intro to its macabre finale. While American pop music drowns radio and television with cheese, check out what an overseas band can do to keep faith in hard rock restored...
