Now, this is Helloween like you have never heard them before. Known for often using a joking manner and happy sounding melodies, Helloween tries something different here. This is their first album with new record label, Nuclear Blast and they started off with a doozy! This album is far more aggressive, heavier and darker than any of the previous Helloween efforts...hence the title the "Dark Ride." The sound quality is the best of all Helloween albums so far and the songs are superb. I really love the entire album and I believe all of the songs are excellent. My personal favorite is the title track "The Dark Ride." This is a bit of an epic song with an excellent, speedy verse and a creepy chorus. I also really love the first single from the album, "If I Could Fly" which is a softer song, but with great melodies and a magical chorus. My other personal favorite is "Immortal" which begins soft, features many melodies and has the best chorus on the album if you ask me. This is a different step for Helloween, but definetly a great one. If you're a true Heavy Metal and/or Helloween you need this album. It's a masterpiece and one of the better Helloween records.
