Somehow I missed Helloween's flavor of this genre of music in 20 years as a fan of hard/heavy guitar rock. I can't comment on the band's personnel or music history, but I can state that this album is one pure pleasure to listen to. The musicianship is top notch, and the production is crystal clear. The topical elements of the songs are a little overly simplistic, but what fan of hard/heavy rock can't use an album(s) with positive anthemic vibes. I personally do not care for the "power" or "progressive" genres of metal, my opinion being the end product lacks emotional "soul;" but am certainly willing to make an exception for music of this quality.
