3 Great songs - the rest: Michael Kiske's worst album (Rated this album with 4 out of 10) Reviewed by

I have been a Helloween fan since 1989, thus a great admirer of their masterpieces "Keeper of the Seven Keys".So it is hard for me to admit that this is the worst album of the Michael Kiske era! There are some good ideas for heavy metal songs here, but unfortunately most songs (especially the choruses) are very commercial...Definitely this album can't be compared to the "Keeper's" neither "Walls of Jericho" or even get close to them. Also the production of the album isn't impressive, there are rumors that the mastering was a disaster and the band hated the result. Nevertheless besides the silly & commercial heavy metal tracks there are 3 outstanding ones! "Mankind" is a great-epic song with wonderful vocal and musical variations (best vocals on the album). "The Chance" also contains some of the albums best vocals and is the most known track from this relish. Finally "Someone's Crying" is the only song that could be categorized as power metal, a good song. Besides those 3 songs, what can I say, something is definitely wrong here. Maybe the band should have broken up after Kai Hansen left...? But by any means can this album be compared to the Andi Deris - Helloween era, which for me continues to be a disgrace to the legendary band. At least you hear some wonderful vocals by Michael Kiske, who never fails...
