In 1996 I was looking for something new and yet the same. I'm an absolute true as hell Iron Maiden fan, but after Bruce had left the band I felt a bit estranged. Their releases albeit okay, just wasn't reaching me. I went on a search for something new. I went through some other bands I've listened to, but never really bought. Gamma Ray, Helloween, Rage, Blind Guardian, to name a few, all of which are very good. In 97 a buddy of mine who knew what I was into thought he might have found it. He hands me 'Glory to the Brave.' I've been awestruck every since with every release they've had. I won't post a review of the other albums, 'Legacy of Kings' and 'Renegade.' All of which receive 5 stars. Crimson Thunder. I've not heard something so good in a LONG TIME. I'm talking on the level of 'Number of the Beast, Master of Puppets, Somewhere Far Beyond.' This is Epic. Some people will see it and pass it off right away as 80's metal and a band that came too late to a passing genre. However, it's completely the opposite. It's a band coming at the right time bringing breathing life into a genre overrun with "new-metal." I recently saw Hammerfall perform here in Minneapolis, opening for Dio. In the short 30 minutes they performed I was surrounded by people who've not heard anything by Hammerfall. During and after the performance a change took place. The legion is growing, it knows no boundaries, raise the hammer and join the ranks. LET THE HAMMERFALL!!
