The great thing about this band from the beginning, is that although you might keep wanting them to lash out and really go for your throat, putting massive orchestration and guitar wizardry in their albums, like Rhapsody for instance, you always come away completely satisfied because their songwiritng is just so killer. Sure, they give you the power metal thundering songs, but also throw in a ballad or two, catchy songs that stick in your head long after the CD stops spinning, and not only heavy, but totally smooth. The standouts are the smooth vocals, and thunderous drumming. On Glory To The Brave, the drums sounded like thunder in your bedroom, a little toned down on this one, but still classic HammerFall. If you like Dream Evil, Falconer, early Manowar, or just great songs with a clear production sound, don't miss out this latest from these metal gods. Picks: every song on the album, especially the KILLER cover of Kiss's Detroit Rock City! That will blow you way; these guys should do a whole CD of cover tunes like Iced Earth's, Tribute To The Gods. A ***** 5 star power metal rating! Cheers from Scraggy's Tomb.
