I'm only writing a review of this album because of the other reviews I see giving this album 5 stars, calling it "perfect". While this is a fine compilation with many of the bands older songs re-recorded with Kai Henson on vocals, this isn't as "original" and "ground breaking" as many of the other reviewers claim it is. Reality check time: Iced Earth already did this several years ago with their "Days of Purgatory" compilation! "Blast from the Past" is an utter and complete carbon copy of that album. For that reason I don't feel this album deserves a perfect 5 star ratings. However, I'm still glad they took this route and help set the path for this type of compilation album along with Iced Earth. I can only hope other metal bands will follow suit if they decide to put out compilations as well. I'm tired of metal bands putting out "best of" cd's that contain nothing but the same old versions of the songs that fans already own...
