King Of Fools

Let's hope the album is better.

After listening to all of them, I'm really hoping that the reason these songs were left off the album is because they aren't anywhere near as good. Needless to say, the songs are all pretty weak and not very memorable at all. I am very disappointed in the band, they have more potential than this. Some of the lyrics are amongst the worst Edguy have ever written. For instance, the last track "Life and Time of a Bonus Track" are silly, childish, and not funny. "New Age Messiah" starts out strong with a beautiful orchestra part, and has a pretty strong chorus, but the whole thing goes sour once the idiotic cursing starts toward the end. The other 3 songs are mediocre at best, especially for Edguy. Even the cover art is stupid.

I would only recommend this CD for only the biggest Edguy fans who need everything the band releases. The songs just aren't very strong and the cursing really takes away from the seriousness. It's not offending, it's just lame. I expect to hear bad language in hardcore bands where it sounds more appropriate, but not in power metal. It just doesn't work.
