EDGUY RETURNING TO ENGLAND, HUNGARY & SPAIN... | 19th April 2006 Comments [310]
More summer festival appearances have been confirmed. Besides headlining the Bloodstock Open Air in Derby, England, Edguy will be back in Hungary to play the WAN2 Festival in Mezotur. Furthermore Edguy just confirmed an appearance at both Metalway Festivals in Spain, one in Gernika (Bizkaia) and in the football stadium of Santa Lucia.
“This festival summer will be something special for us, we’ve had plenty of festival seasons, but we’ve never had the chance to share one stage with so many of our childhood heroes like Journey, Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Guns’n’Roses, Michael Schenker... It’s a real pleasure and to me the whole summer seems more like a vacation than a hard working tour. See you all this summer – Tobias.”

EDGUY TO HEADLINE BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR | 12th April 2006 Comments [568]
Edguy just confirmed to headline Britain’s most prestigious festival for traditional Metal on July 14th. As a result of a successful tour in January, constantly increasing sales and terrific response to the latest album “the most remarkable melodic metal band to come out of Germany in the last 20 years” (Fireworks magazine) will return to England.
“It’s a real great thing to return to England as a headlining act. In the past the British market has been quite tough, but we always believed that a country that literally invented metal, spandex and sock-stuffing can’t ignore it in the long term. The fans seem to be aware that we are out there and they seem to enjoy how uncool, unhip and out of vogue we are. They are with us and we feel honoured and happy to come back. We’ll give our best to put on the hell of an entertaining show. And to look, talk and behave as ludicrous as always. Heavy Metal!!! – Tobias”

EDGUY ON THE ROAD | 16th March 2006 Comments [348]
Hi there friends,
Just thought I’d send you a short “hello” from a Japanese hotel room. The tour is going fantastic and the mood in the camp is unbelievable. On the flight to Japan we played that game “Who’s got a total of 1000 Seven Up cans first is the winner”. It’s one of those games where you have to choose good tactics, so the stewardess doesn’t get wind of that it’s just a competition, you got to pretend you’re really thirsty. Well, Dirk won. He didn’t finish, but when we arrived he’d had two cans, one more than the rest of us.
In case some of you Japanese fans wonder what’s that weird red spot on my forehead right between the eyes: No, I am not a married Indian woman, I just hit myself with the microphone by accident during the show in Osaka.
So far so good, don’t forget about the forthcoming shows (see dates below). Another show has been confirmed, we are gonna play the main stage at the Graspop festival in Belgium this summer. I don’t remember the date right now, but I’ll let you know later. Have a great day.
Jens, Dirk, Eggi and Felix say “hi” too. Take care,
Tobi

ROCKET RIDE TOUR IS BREAKING ALL RECORDS | 2nd March 2006 Comments [1453]
The “Rocket Ride” tour is by far the most successful tour the band has played to date with a Swedish leg that had been completely sold out in advance. For the Fulda show there are only very few tickets left for the walk up audience.
The new album “Rocket Ride” entered the official album charts in the following countries:
Germany #8 Sweden #8 Finland #25 Hungary #32 Japan #48 Switzerland #50 Austria #50 Norway #79 Italy #81
As for the fact that there had been no merchandise available at the Stockholm show:
“As sad as it is, the company that holds the rights to sell the merchandise at that venue in Stockholm was asking for a ridiculously high commission. They have been doing that for years and so far all bands kissed ass and gave in to the absurd demands of those parasites. Just because they rather add the commission to the original sales price and hope that they sell at least a few shirts to those who are determined enough to buy them, according to the principle: Any money is good money, let’s get all we can take. THAT’S NOT FAIR!!! In a band meeting we decided to rather not to sell any shirt than screwing our fans. Stupid from a business point of view but we do not wanna blow YOUR money into some business men’s asses. Fuck that, I hope they will reduce their provision rates in the future, this step was unavoidable to give a signal. It’s not acceptable to feed parasites with the money of our fans!!! We hope you understand that! – Tobias”
EDGUY ON TOUR! | 8th February 2006 Comments [4179]
After the breath-taking success of Edguy's new album Rocket Ride (e.g. position no. 8 in the Swedish and German album charts) Edguy have set out to hit the European stages, featuring the biggest stage production the band has ever had.
"Hello from a hotel room in Madrid. Everything is going great so far, almost every show had been sold out or was at least close. Yesterday in Italy there was a weird thing going on. Around midnight, I guess it wasn't even ten in the morning, Italian police officers disturbed our beauty sleep on the tour bus asking for money. Weird, I thought the days of corruption in the civilized world were long gone. Half asleep I replied "It's not Manni, it's Tobi!" Then one of the sheriffs asked me for drugs. I mean, even if I took drugs and had some, I wouldn't share them with a corrupted police officer, would you?! I was tempted to ask if he couldn't maybe specify what he was in need of exactly. But it seemed they weren't in a funny mood. I mean: We don't do drugs and I told him that all we had was some whiskey and beer. His answer was "Den I come widda dog!" Yes, each to his own, there's people who like to come with dogs. Anyway, the whole procedure took 45 minutes and they turned the bus upside down. We neither had a hostage by the name of Manni, nor did we have drugs. All we finally had was a bad mood and dog's hair everywhere and a terrible smell. Our lighting engineer said it was his first time having been woken up by a dog's asshole on his face. Weird shit happens!!! Anyway, the Italian fans have been worth it! Even a dog's ass on Holgi's face. It was a female dog anyway. This tour is great fun and it feels great to be out to see you guys! Take care, Tobi!

NEW ALBUM HITS THE CHARTS ON #8! | 30th January 2006 Comments [739]
The new album "Rocket Ride" just hit the official German and Swedish album charts at #8. In Finland it went in at #25.
Tobias Sammet: "It's unbelievable and it proves once more how loyal Heavy Metal fans and Edguy fans are. We're certainly proud of our fans, especially because beforehand the suit-and-tie-people said it would be a difficult week to release an album cause the stores are full of Robbie's William and Maradonna and what's-his-name. They call it a lot of "traffic". Nobody told them rocket's are not supposed to get stuck in traffic jams. ;-) I don't wanna believe there's a wrong time for a right album. Anyway: Thank you all so much and now it feels even better to be on tour, cause it's our chance of saying "thanx" to each and everybody personally. We're in England right now and England kicks arse, the vernues are packed and I fucking wonder how come people say there are no Metal fans in England. England's Metal heads kick ass!"
Right now Edguy are on their Rocket Ride world tour. Make sure you don't miss them!

NEW ALBUM OUT 20 JANUARY! | 27th December 2005 Comments [1476]
Right now Edguy are rehearsing for their forthcoming world tour (see tour section for dates) that will feature the band’s biggest stage set to date in order to promote the new album “Rocket Ride”, out on January 20th. A lot more dates are going to be announced as soon as they are confirmed.
In Europe the limited first edition of "Rocket Ride" will come out as a book-version featuring a photographic history of the band with never-before-seen pictures from their early days and one bonus track (Land Of The Miracle – Live In Brazil).
“I can’t tell how happy I am with the new album. The press seems to like it and the material kicks so much ass in the rehearsing room. Of course it’s the same old story, same procedure as every year, some people are confused or offended by a few song titles and the artwork, but that’s fine with us! That’s what Metal is supposed to do. Confuse, offend, irritate! Remain exciting and unpredictable!!! The truest and most upright form of art you can get! As long as the music kicks! I think this is by far our best album because we dared a lot on a high quality level.“Hellfire Club” and “Mandrake” had balls, “Rocket Ride” has the testicles about the size of a sperm whale family. Sascha Paeth delivered the best production of his career so far and he can be proud of himself (and he is rich now!).
We wish you all a happy new year, health and complacency. May all your wishes come true. See you on tour in 2006.” – Tobias
