I started out with Black Sabbath in my teens. Then when I was 20, Slayer's Show No Mercy came out and that changed everything. I kept looking for faster, harder, thrashier. Since then, Slayer has always been my nostalgic favorite. But now that I'm an old man (38), I look for more complexity, musicality and melody in my metal. And Children of Bodom fits into this slot perfectly. Melodic, technically brilliant, with the unexpected bonus of keyboards (keyboards in heavy metal?...yeah, baby!), this CD satisfies all my metal needs. It is well-rounded with speed and heaviness, thrash and hummable melodies, this CD has it all. Damn!
