A Night at the Opera is my FAVORITE B.G album, and accordingly one of my 5 favourite albums of all time. It did take me the longest time to appreciate, but when it finally sank in I realized the greatness of what these Germans have created. As another reviewer put it, this is 'THE Epic Heavy Metal Album'.Unfortunately, -EVERY OTHER REVIEWER- will tell you the same thing about the production being loaded with noise and overpowering choir-type singing. But what they REALLY mean is that B.G altered their sound and it now takes a few extra spins to appreciate the new style. And every reviewer who praises the C.D agrees. (Feel free to check yourself) I also read an interview with guitarist Andre Olbrich himself who also stressed the need for many listens. The guitarist HIMSELF is warning you of their new style. So, if YOU are a Blind Guardian fan, I urge you NOT to give up on this album. Don't be persuaded by those reviewers who didn't give it a chance. Everyone who sticks with it falls in love with it. I ASSURE you it has everything you love from Nightfall in Middle-Earth and Imaginations from the Other Side, only with a striding, more progressive sound that is sure to charm and amaze you. It is also worth mentioning that the song 'And Then There Was Silence' is without any doubt the greatest epic B.G has ever made. The chorus is so grand and infectious you wouldn't believe me if I told you so. So, the bottom line is that if you are Blind Guardian fan, you owe it to yourself and the band to buy this. Don't be afraid. Have the courage to trust the masters who brought you 'Nightfall' and 'Imaginations', because this is definitely their best yet. Every song is a highlight.
